Bedding Roundup No. 1

As you may have noticed from my Instagram feed, we change our bedding up frequently. Over the last year I noticed quite a few questions about what bedding brands I love, so I thought it was about time I did a roundup of my top favorite bedding brands, with our honest opinions about each. Prepare from some nap-inducing info below…

Brooklinen — Our first set was from Brooklinen. We opted for their Hardcore Luxe set, and prepared ourselves for some better zzz’s. They did not disappoint! The set was soft as butter right out of the packaging, and once they were washed a few times, somehow became even more soft. The BEST for summer months IMHO. I basically just lay in bed doing snow angels all day long since the sheets are THAT soft to the touch. My only complaint would have been that they don’t offer that many color options, but it looks like they are expanding the options now!

Kip & Co — This Aussie brand has been on my radar for the past two years, because, well, I’m a self proclaimed mustard yellow enthusiast and always hunt for linen in that color.. We recently got one of their linen sets, and like Brooklinen, the pieces were SO SOFT out of the box. While this brand is definitely on the pricier side, I love that the linen duvets are all double sided, meaning you essentially get two looks for the price of one set. The only thing I don’t love about their duvet covers is that they don’t have inside ties for securing your duvet in place. I still love our set, and you really can’t beat their color selection.. Still, ties would be a nice (and easy) addition to their duvet covers.

Parachute HomeParachute is another bedding brand I have coveted since they launched. They had the first pink linen set that I truly believed that I NEEDED. After many years of drooling over their goods, we finally got the linen set in their new Shore color to try out. The color was so beautiful, and the first thing I noticed was the quality. While pricey, this set is worth the $$. Unlike some linen bedding, they don’t require multiple washes to become soft, they include inner ties, and feature cute white buttons at the end of the duvet cover. I only wish they offered more colors, but I’m sure more are coming down the pipeline.

Urban Outfitters HomeUO offers A LOT of options when it comes to bedding, and I cannot claim to have tried even 10% of them, but the few sets I have tried out, including the above which we currently have on our bed, have been top notch. Unlike the other brands, Urban Outfitters Home has frequent sales and they offer Afterpay as a payment option, making them one of the most attainable and affordable brands for bedding. This knotted washed cotton set has been super comfy for the warmer summer nights, and the quality in structure and feel of the cotton makes it one of my favorite go-to sets. The knotted detailing creates a playful look for an otherwise minimal look. We also have a double sided linen set from UO, and while it is by far the most affordable linen set we’ve owned, we’ve had to reenforce some of the buttons at the opening. Still, for the price, I was willing to do so!

Bedding is always a tough choice, as it makes all the difference in quality of sleep AND with so many options on the market, it becomes overwhelming to choose!

How we stay cozy when we're home sick

David and I were hit really hard yesterday with a flu-like virus, and spent most of the day curled up on the sofa. Today is not much better, but we’re trying to let ourselves heal and lean into the cozy factor of being able to spend a whole week day (or week, let’s be real) on the mend.

It’s times like this that make me thankful for not only modern medicine, but for extra blankets, comfy PJ’s and of course, Netflix. Here’s what life has looked like for the past 24 hours…

1. Schitt’s Creek and lots of Schitt’s Creek

2. Tuft + Needle Pillows - they are a Godsend

3. All the cozy blankets a person could want. I’ve been wrapped up in this UO throw for days.

4. My all-time favorite tea. Thinking of making a hot toddy with it later tonight…

5. Eyemask! The first day, we could hardly keep our eyes open, because the headache was so bad. Having one of these bad boys helped SO much.

What are your go-to’s for a sick day at home??

Valentine's 2019

I hope everyone had a wonderful V day! Even when I was single, I loved to indulge on chocolate, wine and movies with friends. I’m in the mindset that this day is not all about lovers, and should be about everyone you love! A little self-care is always welcome on this day too.

David and I celebrated our 7th Valentine’s Day together this year (wooooo). He brought home a pretty bouquet of flowers, and we celebrated by making some homemade pot pies, drinking wine, and watching classic movies. To get in the spirit, I put up some Valentine’s Day balloons and shot a few quick snaps. I’m thinking I’ll do something like this from now on! It always helps get me in the holiday mood.

Living Room Update with Loloi Rugs

Our big living room refresh is finally complete and I have to say, we’re OBSESSED. We brought out some furniture pieces that have been hibernating in storage, and of course, added a gorgeous rug from Loloi Rugs Skye Collection.

Since our new sofa is way more neutral than our last one, we wanted to bring in as much color in other ways. This beauty from Loloi jumped out at me immediately, and I was SO thrilled with how it made the room come together seamlessly.

sofa roundup / no. 1

We recently replaced our sofa (expect a post to come soon on that refresh) , and it led to me going down the sofa rabbit hole! Since I spent too much time looking at options online for us, I thought I would pass along a few pretty ones I spotted , as well as share the few we’ve had here in our home.

1. Our old sofa. I cannot tell you how many comments I got on this sofa. The shape! The color! We ultimately decided we needed to find a more comfortable solution, but we’re holding onto it for now, because it’s so hard to let go of.

2. The lines and color of this sofa speak to me. Another goodie from Urban Outfitters Home.

3. I’m thinking we need a mustard couch next time around. Am I crazy for already talking about our next sofa when we just got our new one?! The answer is a resounding, YES.

4. The Sven sofa from Article is an iconic at this point. I absolutely love it in this jewel tone.

5. People always forget to check Amazon for decor needs! The lines on this sofa are SO good.

6. Another stunner from Amazon. Love the chunky look and this one comes in a bunch of different colors!

7. Another sofa with beautiful lines. I can see this one in a more formal sitting room.

8. We got this sofa in one of its sectional iterations (and in off-white linen) and OMG it’s incredible. So comfy and stylish at the same time.

9. Last, but certainly not least, another pretty option from Interior Define. I love the modular look here.

There you have it, folks!
